Not a bad start to '09
Time: 21:09
Average: 6:48 min/mile
Place: 8th woman, first in my age division
New Personal Record for 5K
A few notes:
- Amazingly, I ran my best 5K to date on a stomach full of sushi and after of a month of lackluster holiday running (I ran, but I ran neither hard nor far).
- I went out like a rocket and crossed the first mile markerĀ in 6:28 – the other two miles were . . . um . . . not very rocket like.
- Sushi is delicious, but perhaps not an ideal pre-race dinner.
- Heat lamps in the finishing area = happy runners.
And to the guy in the french maid outfit: You rocked it and great costume!
P.S: I am sitting here writing this race report when I should be getting ready to go out for a long run. What is wrong with me?
Congratulations on the PR!!!! And I think a new PR that’s so fast allows you to relax on the long run a bit
Wow…an age group award in your first race of 2009! Great job! I agree…this is such an awesome way to start off the new year. I, for one, am jealous. Congrats!
Ummm… any split that gets you to an average pace of 6:48 is rocket in my book. Great job on a PR!!
congrats on the pr, ag award and an absolutely great start to the new year! hope you were able to pull yourself away from the computer and get your long run in
it’s easy to not rush off to run when you have extra time on your hands around the holidays.
I can’t think of a better way to start the New Year! Congrats on the new PR. Ana-maria
Congrats, lordy that’s a fast time! You’re my new inspiration … I’m looking to break 23:00 this year (so close – 23:04).
I would kill for your time. KILL. Insane. You’re so awesome.
